Seeking volunteer to bring puppy from Holguin, Cuba to Toronto, Canada
Hi,
We recently returned from Holguin, Cuba - where we fell in love with a badly neglected, tiny puppy named "Linda." Linda was living with a Cuban family who are serious animal hoarders. (These people have so many animals they cannot afford to feed or properly take care of. As a result, many are sick, hungry and dying.)
We fell in love with the puppy and bought her from the family. She is now staying with Cuban friends in Holguin who are nourishing her and bringing her back to health. We left the family money to get proper veterinary care and vaccinations. They are also obtaining all paperwork required to bring her to Canada (i.e. health certificate from a certified veterinarian that is translated into English, doggy passport etc.)
Unfortunately, Air Canada, Air Transat, Air Cubana and Sky Service will not fly her in the cargo areas of their airlines. She must be accompanied by a volunteer willing to take her in the passenger section on the airline.
We are looking for a Toronto area volunteer travelling to Holguin in the near future who is willing to bring her back in the passenger area with them. We would pay all fees related to allowing her to travel with you. We would also meet up with you before you leave for Holguin to provide you with a proper travel kennel, blankets, toys, treats etc.
You can see photographs of this adorable little puppy, Linda, here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/23432187@N08/
She is so tiny you would not believe it. If she is more than 1 pound, I would be surprised. She has a very sweet disposition and is a little doll. I know we cannot save all the animals in the world, but we can sure make a difference in the life of this little puppy.
Bringing her here is going to be a surprise for my 8-year-old daughter, who cried when we left Holguin because she thought the puppy was going to die. The people who owned her previously didn't feed or care for her properly at all. They took her away from her mother and adopted her when she was only 3 weeks old. How she survived to 8 or 9 weeks (her current age now) is truly miraculous.
She is currently receiving regular veterinarian care that includes shots for parasites (which are gone now), vaccinations for rabies and other diseases as well as a large dose of vitamins because she was pretty malnourished. Our Cuban friends say she is looking and feeling great now.
If you can help, please email me at jamiesaari@yahoo.com.

| lol go to your local human society and adopt a dog from there if you want to help. The dogs in Cuba would have to be quarantined, have all shots and I think that you need an animal passport as well. |

Hi Kevin, if you are in Canada , recommended to contact the Cuban consulate and Cubana cargo to check all requirements to bring any puppies to another country. As soon as I know you have to pay for the passport , included all vaccinations and check outs, and also the approved by customs related with animals sections. Also you must pay for the ticket and they request to put sometimes the animal in a save place so they can flight or go via cargo.
