| Hi, We are staying at Sol Luna y Mares in January and I have read somewhere that the town of Guardalavaca is quiet but there is a bar/club the locals use. My question is has anyone been there, if so is it safe for tourists at the club/bar, we have done all inclusive before ( Dom Rep ) and find it is nice to get out and see local life a bit but we realise some places it is not wise venture to far at night, having not been to Cuba before we no sure. |

Guardalavaca is just a huge tourist resort with very little of cuban authenticity. Yes, there is a local bar and it is perfectly safe to go into and talk to people. Generally, crime level in Cuba is very low, especially in or around tourist resorts such as Guardalavaca.
For more of a true cuban spirit I would advise you to go to the town of Banes, some 20 miles away from Guardalavaca. There you have plenty of local bars and restaurants which are safe and friendly. |

| Thanks, yes we shall be going to Banes for a night out also Havana for an overnight stay but these will be a bit more organised where as I was asking about Guardalavaca in order that we may just pop into town say on pushbikes in the afternoon casually. Thank you for your reply. |
