Hi there,
Trinidad is generally acknowledged as the most beautiful town/city in Cuba and it is, without shadow of doubt, a splendid place to visit. However, most of the people who have visited Baracoa tend to disagree and feel that this remote town deserve to be no. 1.
What do you think? What impressed you the most? Trinidad's historical heritage or Baracoa's heavenly surroundings?
Just for the ones who have visited both places, please. |

| You may not need an answer any longer, after these 3 years! But I've been to both places and although Baracoa is a beautiful spot, nature paradise and very different (more influenced by native Indian culture) place in many respects from other cities in Cuba, I prefer Trinidad with its vibrant open air music and dance venues, cave disco, colonial architecture and numerous beach and mountains trips. It's also easier to reach from airports. But perhaps the most deciding factor for me is that we befriended a family in Trinidad where we always stay, year after year so it's like going home. Having said all that, I am planning to visit Baracoa again soon. Their cuisine is so different from the rest of the island! Apart from excellent butter-free chocolate, they make those wonderful sweet cones you can bring home - made of guava sugar and coconuts wrapped in banana leaves, a perfect souvenir! |
