| We have a friend who lives in Matanzas who would like to visit us in the UK for a couple of weeks in May. We would pay for her return flight and sponser the visit. How easy would this be to arrange and is a viable proposition?. does anybody have any experience of this, any advice would be very welcome |

Hello there, not wanting to discourage you, however to invite a Cuban to the UK is not a light undertaking.
There is alot of paperwork to do, it all starts with a Letter of Invitation. The Cuban national needs to apply for a passport, undergo an interview at the UK embassy in Havana, a health check, be freed from work for the period abroad, obtain the permit to travel. Check out the website of the Cuban embassy for details.
All this can take up to 6 months (or longer) and your May date looks very tight.
The above needs paying for in CUC, together with the flight you will be incurring cost of between 1000 - 1500 CUC, which is no pocket money either.
When the Cuban national is in the UK, you are fully responsible for his/her actions, well-being and for ensuring the return to Cuba after the visa period. |

What the other person posted is pretty much what is needed to bring someone from Cuba to the UK.tI will take approx 6 months if all goes well, but it can take longer. We know from experience,as we managed to bring a husband and wife out of Cuba for a 2 week visit, staying with us here in the UK.One of the stipulations was they were not allowed to bring their 2 children, they stayed with their grandparents in Cuba. There was no objection from British Government,it was the Cuban government. They were frightened if they came with the children they would not return,(and who could blame them). If you need to know anything you can either post a message on here,or you can email me.The one I have given below I just use for things like this.Or if anyone else would like some info just ask,I will try and help if I can.
Regards Fidel
