HI.
Me and my girlfriend want to go cuba for the 1st time in jan or feb next year but cant decide where the best place for couples to go with abit of activity also what is the weather like in jan and feb. |

Hi Steve. For couple recomended to go to Breezes hotels in Varadero or Jibacoa, they are specialist in couples holidays, but if you want to have more activities , you can stay in Havana at any hotels in Old Havana (Habaguanex chain hotels) of nH-Parque Central hotel, and also combine with Varadero , recomend Melia chain hotels or Barcelo.
January and February months will be winter for us(cubans) normally is like summer for European, will be 25 degress, but of course some days will be down the temperature like 20 degress or maybe less and some rains.
You can try to check prices etc, at web site www.cubaism.com/hotels/ they can help you in anything. |

Hello,
Jan/Feb is (in my view) the best time to go with bearable temperatures, low humidity, no rain.
However, if it is a beach holiday you are after, and especially if you are going to the north of the island (Habana, Varadero) you may find it too cool.
I'd recommend Cuba for safe explorations and sightseeing. On a first visit, maybe you want to explore the capital Habana and also the second largest city in the south (Santiago de Cuba). That would give you an insight into the two cultural poles and historic influences that have shaped the country and its people.
You can fly from one to the other, use the reliable and air-conditioned tourist bus (Viazul) to get from one end of the island to the other, or even drive yourself.
Accomodation is available either in hotels or in private accomodation, staying with licensed Cuban families who rent out rooms.
Read-up on it in books like 'Lonely Planet', this website gives you details of some of the hotels in Cuba and check out specialised travel agents for advice.
If it is a beach holiday you are after, I can't comment as even after 15 years of travelling to Cuba, I still find things to explore and haven't yet ended up on any of the famous beaches.
