Hi Folks
I'm feeling at a loss with my research into what duty free shops in Cuban airports have to offer.
Unfortunately I don't get the privilege of an expenses paid flight to find out first hand and am trying to get in touch with visitors who have been there, or indeed experts in Cuban tourism...
what's currently available in the airport duty free shops (other than cigars?) If I can find out product names, I could potentially do some of my own interviews..
I'm also trying to dig up anything that the first time traveller to Cuba wouldn't know about.. what has Cuba got to offer the foreign traveller? If you know a lot about cuban tourism/airport retailing, it'd be great to hear from you.
I'm writing for a duty free publication.
My e-mail address is: louise_driscoll@hotmail.com
Many thanks

Hi Louise,
Cuban airports stock a selection of alcohol, cigarettes and cigars, sweets, coffee, jewellery, music CDs and beauty care articles.
Many of the items on sale are Cuban produce or from the Joint Ventures(Cubita coffee, Havana Club rum, the jewellery, music, some of the beauty care articles).
Others are mainstream brands that you find in any other duty free shop. Displays, posters, etc. as you find them here.
Even the big US corporations sell their good and you will find e.g. Pringles, Coke, Marlboro, perfumes, alcohol and sweets.(all made in Mexico !!!)
The duty free shops tend to be relatively small and limited in their assortment.
Havana airport features a stall with health items (vitamins, tees, topical creams, non prescription items, etc).
The Cubans sells 'cultural' goods, like carvings, pottery, calendars, textiles and knick-knack in smaller outlets / stalls apart from the main duty free shop in most airports.
From my observations the demand is for mainstream items in the duty free shop (cigarettes and alcohol) and the 'cultural' stuff mainly.
Does that help ?
